You aren't the only ones that ran it, and other guilds ran into the same conclusion. It's just really hard to beat a BA ranger's effectiveness other than just pure numbers.

I think Vow of Silence could be very good. Extend Enchantments + Featherfoot Grace + Vow (with Shield of Deflection from your Prot Monk, or just Prot Spirit and then Frenzied Defense on the Dervish himself) = only a very good body block will stop that character from running the flag in, aside from some very esoteric abilities like Expunge Enchantments. He needs Mystic Regen to be a solo character as well but that still leaves 3/4 spots for offensive abilities.
Many possibly great Dervish builds are limited by the stupid Mysticism attribute, though. You really need to get that 5-energy-per-enchantment bonus to make a lot of builds 100% effective. I wish they would change the specs on the energy gain of Mysticism so that you started getting it at Atrribute Rank 1 (rather than 3), which overall would make it so that you only need 13 Mysticism (instead of 15) to get the needed 5-energy bonus.

Mind blasts are actually very effective in certain halls like uncharted's attacking base where the mind blast can use the walls to stop interupts on him from say a ba and get wep warding up although i think the mind blast would be effective with a snare as well instead of just the normal metagame mind blast.

Vital Boon
Victorious Sweep
Chilling Victory
Signet of Pious Light
Dust Cloak
Heart of Holy Flame
Twin Moon Sweep (optional)
Rez Sig
To counter a flag runner, I'd say take out dust cloak for a crip enchant. Juggling vital boon, heart of holy flame, and your third enchant while spaming sig of pious light makes for great tanking and energy management.

Even though there are some HALF OK builds that dont carry elites,i am sure you could fit one in there to make the build somewhat better..

welll in my opinion the BA ranger is the best (and not just because its all i've played in gvg for a while) even with the 6 sec recharge on mending touch now , that only really hurts against yaa and other BA
